Career Mentoring

Strengthen your competences and prepare for a scientific or industrial career beyond analytical and mathematical skills

We highly recommend the Universities Graduates Academy to strengthen your competences: The Graduates Academy supports and promotes early career researchers at the University of Rostock. They offer a high quality qualification programme (in English and German language) as well as funding opportunities for external qualification courses. Additionally, they provide networking opportunities. Once registered, every member obtains a virtual budget to spend on qualification courses. PostDocs can apply for the programme as well.

In close collaboration with the Physik-Alumni Rostock e.V. and the career service of the University of Rostock we offer events in the winter term. We invite exciting speakers of different industry branches and institutions to report on their career path and sharing experiences.

Additionally, to stay connected with the Institute's Alumni, there is the possibility to connect via a LinkedIn group, administrated by Physik-Alumni Verein e.V.

More qualification and mentoring programmes

The Careers Service also provides a qualification programme (mostly in German) to prepare members of the University for the transition "from study to the world of work".

The project KarriereWegeMentoring is a mentoring initiative at the University of Rostock and supports female early career researchers "on their path to obtaining a professorship or some other leading position" (in German language).

Training opportunities within the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility are possible (requirement: contract with the University). "Training periods abroad can consist of job shadowing, observation periods, professional development courses or specific competence-building events. Opportunities to take part in professional development activities are available to staff working at all levels of education."

Prepare yourself with a new language for the world of work! The Language Center offers courses in 10 different languages and self-study possibilities.

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience, IAESTE, provides world-wide trainee exchange and is part of the DAAD. The local group is responsible for incoming students as well as for locating your internship.
