Das Institut für Physik begrüßt Eleftherios Goulielmakis als neuen Professor für „Extreme Photonik”

Dr. Eleftherios Goulielmakis is a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and a Professor of Physics at the University of Rostock. He received his B.SC. and Master's degree from the Physics Department of the University of Crete (Greece), in 2000 and 2002 respectively, and his PhD from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Germany, in 2005.

His research focuses on the development of techniques and tools that allow imaging of electrons in matter in space and time.

Notable distinctions include the Roentgen Prize of the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (2015), the Gustav-hertz Prize of the German Physical Society (DPG), (2012), the IUPAP award in optics (2010) and the Foteinos prize of the Academy of Athens (2007).
