Mental Health First Aid

In September 2022, the MHI organized a Mental Health First Aid workshop for members of different departments of Rostock University, because psychological problems also occur in academia - especially among students and young researchers. With this, we want to offer a low-threshold help service directly on site, just down the hall, in the form of an initial conversation.

The contents of the first aid course do not aim to provide diagnoses or psychological treatment, but rather to enable the participants to recognize warning signals in the first trusting conversation, to provide assistance to those affected and to refer them to professional services if necessary.

The participants learned how to talk to family members, friends or collegues that are struggling and how to help them.
