Evgeni Shoifet
Nationality ........................ Israeli
Bachelor Degree from.... Technion, Haifa, Israel
In Rostock since .............. October 2007
Evgeni: At first I was lost and had a problem to adapt, but I received a lot of help from other students and from teaching staff. I felt personal involvment from the teaching staff side in my success in the study.
The approach to lectures are intimate, each of the student gets personal attention. As for the master thesis one can find a large number of fascinating topics. For example, my master work was done in Prof. Schick’s group of polymer physics. I was involved in cutting edge development of the device for nano-calorimetry. Actually, I liked it so much that I have decided to stay more and continue my study as a PhD student.
I had a great time doing my master’s degree in Rostock university. (March 09, 2010)
Yeong Zen Chua
Nationality ........................ Malaysia
Bachelor Degree from.... Hochschule Mannheim, Germany
In Rostock since .............. October 2008
Yeong: The master program at the University of Rostock enables me to undertake a wide range of courses from theoretical to experimental physics. The studies were advanced and challenging but the lecturers are always very approachable and eager to help, giving us very practical and hands-on experience on the application of theories in real situations.
My three semesters in University of Rostock have greatly contributed to my knowledge and skills as a future physicist. I really enjoyed the motivating study environment and I have learnt a lot from my friends and lecturers. I am also impressed and grateful with the services and support that the University offers for international students, to help us in achieving our goals. (May 2010)
* In December 2009, a Best Foreign Student Award was bestowed upon Yeong Zen Chua for her excellent record in her physics studies, see picture.

In fact I searched in internet for a well-qualified university in Germany which offers master program in atmospheric Physics, since this is my favorite field of study and also I like Germany as a modern and high-tech country. Finally, I found Rostock University. I found both the university and the program matched with what I want. And now that I'm admitted for the program, I see myself on the way to reach to my dreams.
I have to state that, the application procedure was really fast. Because it took almost one week to receive the admission result after sending my documents to the university.
During this period and also before sending my documents, I was always welcomed by the persons in charge. I always received the reply e-mails really fast and helpful. And also I have to appreciate admission office for their responses and help. (March 23rd, 2010)
